Benefit to help lung cancer research

A lung cancer benefit for the nonprofit Addi’s Cure will be at 5:30 p.m. July 18 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

Addi’s Cure was created by Lawrence native Christi Johnson, of Cornelius, N.C., and her husband, Bo Cornelius. Bo, a lifelong non-smoker, received a diagnosis of stage four lung cancer two years ago. They started the nonprofit named after their 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Addi, to raise money for lung cancer research.

Recently Bo had a double lung transplant and is recovering at Duke Medical Center in Durham, N.C.

Christi, a 1995 Lawrence High graduate and 1999 KU graduate, along with her family of Lawrence, will host the tropical island-themed party, catered by Bum Steer BBQ with a silent auction, live auction and a cash bar.

Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased by contacting Terri Morgan at 865-8522 or addiscure@yahoo.com.
