Atchison ? Lawrence High’s wrestling team placed third at the 14-team Final Flurry tournament Saturday.

Brian Cain placed first at 160 pounds. Blake Greenfield was second at 135, while thirds were claimed by Levi Flohrschutz (125), Jake Pfannenstiel (130) and Dom Reiske (145).

“It was good success for us to build on especially for next week traveling to Rose Hill (Friday-Saturday),” LHS coach Patrick Naughton said. “That will be a precursor to state in Wichita. It will get them acclimated to being away from home, staying at a hotel and seeing tough competition.

“I’m pleased. It’s really been a tough few days. We had the Rossville dual yesterday, came back and had to be in Atchison by 9 a.m. A lot of guys were getting tired at the end. They were able to pull it together and get third, which is nice.”
