Woman leaves $2M to Wichita State

? A Missouri woman whose only tie to Wichita was a brother who once ran a downtown beauty shop has left $2 million to a Wichita State University scholarship fund.

Flora Lea Wallis, of Springfield, died last year at the age of 99. She was was described as a frugal cosmetologist who also owned a dairy farm in southwest Missouri with her brother.

The brother, Chesley Wallis, died in Springfield in 1988 at age 86.

Wichita State University Foundation vice president Michael Lamb said the donation will generate $85,000 a year in scholarships. It was the fifth million-dollar gift the foundation has received over the past three years.
