School district buys land for school

? Eudora school district has finalized purchase of 47 acres where it will construct a $27 million elementary school.

The school, which is slated to open in August 2009, will have a capacity for 1,000 students. Its construction is part of a $45 million school bond package district voters approved two months ago.

Last summer, the school board agreed that if the bond issue passed, it would pay $1.99 million for the property on Eudora’s east side near 10th and Peach streets. The land was owned by Robert Durr.

Last week, board members also formally approved final drawings for the new school.
