Columbia, Mo. ? It may be now or never for Kansas University’s women’s basketball team.

The Jayhawks still are winless on the road in Big 12 Conference games, and their best opportunity to end that 0-6 skein may be today when they meet free-falling Missouri.

Tipoff will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Mizzou Arena. Fox Sports Midwest (Sunflower Broadband channel 36) will carry a live telecast.

Missouri (8-17 overall, 1-11 Big 12) continued its downward spiral Thursday night in a 73-57 loss at Nebraska. The basement-dwelling Tigers have dropped 10 games in a row.

Kansas (15-11 overall, 4-8 Big 12) appeared on its way to ending its league road woes Wednesday at Texas Tech, a team bogged down in a five-game losing skid. But the Red Raiders rallied for a 66-61 victory after trailing by 12 points at halftime.

Tech outscored Kansas, 44-28, in the second half.

“I’m disappointed we didn’t have an answer for how aggressive they were,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We dug ourselves a hole and let them play with tremendous emotion and energy and just didn’t have an answer.”

Kansas also swooned in the second half when it met Missouri on Jan. 19 in Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks spurted to a 13-point halftime lead, then had to hang on for a 66-60 victory. Krysten Boogaard scored 17 points and Danielle McCray contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds.

After today, Kansas will have just one more league road game – Saturday at Iowa State. The Jayhawks will be back home Wednesday night to meet Texas. After the trip to Ames, Iowa, KU will conclude the regular season at home March 5 against Kansas State.
