The Kansas University women’s basketball team let a 12-point halftime lead slip away Wednesday night in Lubbock, Texas, falling to Texas Tech 65-61, seriously damaging the Jayhawks’ suddenly budding NCAA Tournament hopes.

The defeat drops KU to 15-10 overall and 4-8 in Big 12 play. Jordan Murphree scored 17 points and Dominic Seals added 12 for the Red Raiders in the second half, where Tech outscored KU 44-28 on 16-of-26 shooting. The Raiders hit 14 of their first 18 shots out of the intermission.

KU freshman Krysten Boogaard, who had 15 points and seven rebounds in the first half, was limited to two points and one board in the game’s final 20 minutes. Danielle McCray finished with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Jayhawks. Sade Morris and Nicollette Smith each added 11. Smith had a three-pointer from the corner rim-out in the final minutes, which would have tied the game.

KU takes on Missouri in Columbia at 1:30 p.m. The Jayhawks took out the Tigers on Jan. 19 in Lawrence, 66-60.
