Watkins museum features quilt program

Since the 1840s, women’s groups and friends have been making signature or friendship quilts. Watkins Community Museum of History has invited Ferrol Lattin, textile collector and historian, to discuss the art form at 11 a.m. Feb. 27. Ferrol will share the stories of friendship quilts from her own collection. Participants also are encouraged to bring their friendship quilts.

This program accompanies an exhibit, “Quilts of the 1930s and 1940s,” currently on display at the museum, 1047 Mass., through March 22. Both the exhibit and program are free and open to the public.

The Watkins Community Museum of History is operated by the Douglas County Historical Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the collection, preservation and dissemination of Douglas County history.
