KU inks 20 recruits on Signing Day

As expected, Kansas University’s football team signed 20 players to letters of intent on Wednesday, the first day football prospects were allowed to sign.

In all, the Jayhawks inked 16 high schools players and three junior college players. They also signed Alonso Rojas, a punter who last played at Bowling Green.

The star of the class may be Jocques Crawford, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound running back out of Cisco (Texas) Junior College. Crawford was the NJCAA offensive player of the year in 2007 after rushing for 1,935 yards.

“We are pleased with our class overall,” KU coach Mark Mangino said in a statement. “We have been able to meet some immediate needs and some long-range needs.”

Mangino’s press conference to talk specifically about the signings Wednesday was canceled due to inclement weather overnight.
