KU completes second bowl practice

Kansas University’s football team held its second practice Saturday in Tempe, Ariz., in preparation for the Jayhawks’ Dec. 31 matchup with Minnesota in the Insight Bowl.

The Jayhawks, who are making consecutive bowl trips for the first time in school history, practiced for two hours at a local high school before being given the rest of the day off.

“Practice has been very upbeat and has been at a fast-paced tempo,” Kansas coach Mark Mangino said.

“The team is in high spirits and we are getting more and more comfortable with our game plan.”

The game, set to kick off at 5 p.m., will be aired locally on the NFL Network and WDAF Fox 4 in Kansas City.

“The weather has been great,” junior receiver Kerry Meier said. “Practice has been upbeat and we are anxious as we are getting closer to the game.

“Today’s practice was better than yesterday’s practice. We were flying around and making plays today.”

Today, the team will take part in a morning practice before dining at a local steakhouse.
