Olathe ? A Bonner Springs man has sued a Kansas City-area hospital for injuries he suffered when an operating table malfunctioned.

It’s the second such lawsuit Shawnee Mission Medical Center has faced this year. The founder of the huge Deffenbaugh Industries Inc. waste management firm sued earlier after he was dumped from an X-ray table in an accident that left him paralyzed.

Ivan Zeleznak filed the latest lawsuit in Johnson County District Court. He alleges that during surgery to remove his prostate last year, the table dropped him 5 to 6 inches, causing permanent injuries.
