Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has made appointments to the newly established Military Children Educational Council.

The council is a key component of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, enacted by legislation signed by Sebelius earlier this year. The compact aims to ease the transition for children whose parents are active members of the military and moving to Kansas.

People appointed to the council are Alexa Posny, Lawrence; Ron Walker, Junction City; Debra Baeuchle, Leavenworth; John Armbrust, Manhattan; Col. David Chase, Fort Riley; Donna Shinn, Fort Leavenworth; Dennis Chrisco, McConnell Air Force Base; and Ann Gordon, Fort Riley.
