Olympic swimmer joins ‘Girls’ Night In’

Olympic swimming medalist Dara Torres will make an appearance at Kansas University Hospital’s fourth annual Girls’ Night In: An Evening Celebrating Women’s Heart and Health on Feb. 11.

At 41, Torres won her most recent silver medals at the Beijing Olympics competing against women half her age. During the KU Hospital event, she will talk about her passion for health and wellness, and her ability to balance sports, motherhood and a busy career.

Girls’ Night In is a fundraiser for the hospital’s women’s heart health program “A Change of Heart,” and it helps women identify their risk factors and take action against heart disease. The event, which draws about 900 women, will be in the AMC Theatre in the Power and Light District in Kansas City, Mo.

Tickets are $75 for the main event, which begins at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 11. Tickets for a sponsor and patron cocktail buffet with Torres at 5:30 p.m. plus the main event are $175. Both are available by calling (913) 588-8888 or e-mailing funddevelopment@kumc.edu.
