Pool season to end; dogs swim Tuesday

Monday is the last day to soak up the sun and splash around at the Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Ky.

Then it will go to the dogs.

Before the pool is drained for the off-season, the sixth annual Pooch Plunge will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. For $5, dogs (with proof of a rabies vaccination) are allowed to swim. Local businesses and organizations also will provide treats and pet information.

Both the outdoor pool and the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, will be open from 1 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Monday.

And through Dec. 2, the indoor pool will be open:

¢ Lap Swimming: 5:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

¢ Waterslide and Diving Area: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

¢ Zero Depth and Children’s Area: 3:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 2:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesdays; 1 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Saturday; 1 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

The Carl Knox Natatorium at Lawrence High School, 1901 La., will also be open for lap swimming from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning Sept. 8.
