Afterschool-program helpers needed at CJHS

The afterschool program at Central Junior High School seeks volunteers to assist with activities.

Volunteers are needed to tutor, especially in math- and science-related subjects, provide support to staff with groups such as cooking, yoga and sports, and are also welcome to bring in presentations or workshops.

¢ Headquarters Counseling Center is in need of volunteer counselors and will have informational meetings from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the coffee shop at Borders, 700 N.H., and from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Gallery Room at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. ¢ Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for advocates to assist in the office a few times a month. Contact Meg Hooper at mhooper@ksbbbs.org or 843-7359.

¢ Youth Volunteer Council is looking for young people ages 11 to 18 to join its volunteer organization. YVC does volunteer projects two to three times per month. For more information, contact YVC at youth@rhvc.org or 865-5030.
