Volunteer fair today kicks off celebration

The Roger Hill Volunteer Center invites Douglas County residents to participate in National Volunteer Week through Saturday.

The week recognizes and celebrates volunteers’ work. The week will kick off with a volunteer information fair and will end with the annual Day of Caring event.

From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today is the Volunteer Information Fair at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt. More than 35 community organizations are scheduled to participate at the free fair. Door prizes will be given.

The Day of Caring, a communitywide volunteer project, begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. Hundreds of community volunteers are expected to attend a Kick-Off Breakfast celebration at Free State High School, 4700 Overland Drive, before dispersing to more than 30 volunteer projects across the county.
