Former Jayhawks await draft fate

Anthony Collins’ NFL dreams were put on hold for one more day.

Collins, a former Kansas University offensive tackle, did not get picked in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft on Saturday. Rounds 3-7 start at 9 a.m. today, where Collins is expected to be selected at some point.

The lone Jayhawk picked on Saturday was cornerback Aqib Talib, who went in the first round (20th overall) to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Collins could be one of the first picks today, but he’s not the only former Jayhawk at the edge of his seat. Other possibilities to get drafted include defensive tackle James McClinton, tight end Derek Fine and wide receiver Marcus Henry.

In addition, a flurry of free-agent deals will be agreed to once the draft ends, which potentially could impact fullback Brandon McAnderson, kicker Scott Webb and punter Kyle Tucker.
