Campbell to appear in ‘Ugly Betty’ finale

Los Angeles – Naomi Campbell is getting “Ugly.”

The supermodel will appear in ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” according to actress Becki Newton. A representative for ABC confirmed Wednesday that Campbell would play herself in the second season finale.

“She’s going to be in our last episode, which is exciting,” Newton told The Associated Press at the launch party for the new Sunglass Hut store design. “I’ve personally requested that I don’t stand next to her because Amanda would not like to be seen with such a tall, pretty person.”

Newton, who stars as sassy receptionist Amanda Sommers on “Ugly Betty,” isn’t sure if she’ll actually have scenes with the 37-year-old supermodel, who was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of assaulting an officer after police were called to a disturbance at Heathrow Airport in London.

Campbell was originally announced as a guest star last year but didn’t appear in the first season or the beginning of the second season, which was cut short because of the writers’ strike.

Star Jones files for divorce

New York – Three years after tying the knot in a spectacular, over-the-top affair that caused some backlash, Star Jones has decided to end her marriage to banker Al Reynolds.

The 46-year-old TV personality quietly filed divorce papers March 26 in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan. The records are sealed, syndicated entertainment show “Entertainment Tonight” reported Wednesday.

But a representative for SHADOW PR, which represents Jones, confirmed to The Associated Press that she is seeking to end the union.

In a statement to “Entertainment Tonight,” Jones said: “Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce.

“The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone’s life that requires privacy with one’s thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman.”

Kanye West, Jay-Z party together

Los Angeles – It was boy’s night out for Kanye West and Jay-Z.

The pair partied at the nightclub Goa for West’s official afterparty following his “Glow in the Dark” tour performance Tuesday at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Famous guests, such as Paris Hilton, Benji Madden, Rob Kardashian and Adrienne Bailon, had already come and gone by the time the rappers showed up around 1 a.m.

A solo Jay-Z – clad in a hood, sunglasses and no wedding ring – arrived first and bypassed the red carpet. West entered the club about 10 minutes later and joined his friend in a center booth overlooking the dance floor.

Kidman speaks out against violence

United Nations – Nicole Kidman has urged world leaders and ordinary people to join the global fight to end violence against women.

The actress, seven months pregnant and passionately committed to her role as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women, said Tuesday the violence was probably the “most widespread human rights violation of our time.”

“One in three women will encounter violence in some way, shape or form against them in their lifetime,” Kidman told a news conference at U.N. headquarters. “That’s an extraordinary statistic. Yet do we ever hear it?”

The 40-year-old Australian star became a goodwill ambassador in January 2006 for the U.N. Development Fund for Women, known as UNIFEM. Its acting executive director, Joanne Sandler, said Kidman wanted to focus on an issue “where she could make a difference.”

Mabius, who portrays playboy editor Daniel Meade on the comedy, told The Associated Press that Sherman surprised him with the news on the show’s set last week.

“We don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl yet,” Mabius said Wednesday. The couple have a 1-year-old son.
