Injury accidents

¢ A Lansing man and a Basehor woman were transported to Overland Park Regional on Tuesday following a multi-vehicle accident at Kansas Highway 7 and 130th Street in Wyandotte County, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority. The accident occurred about 7:15 p.m. Charles Lee, 20, Lansing, was driving a 2002 Dodge south on K-7 when his vehicle struck the back of a vehicle driven by William F. Price Jr., 55, of Basehor. Stephanie Price, 38, Basehor, was a passenger in the vehicle. Price’s vehicle was pushed into a third vehicle, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report. Lee’s vehicle then sideswiped a fourth vehicle in the left turn lane, the report said. Lee’s vehicle went across the intersection and struck a fifth vehicle that was stopped facing north at the intersection. Lee and Stephanie Price were transported to the hospital. Price was in good condition Tuesday. Lee’s condition was unavailable.

Law enforcement report

¢ Searchers were expected to return to the Kansas River outside Eudora this morning to continue combing the waters for the body of a De Soto man.

Shaun Shaw, 26, fell into the river Saturday night. Shaw and friends had been hunting mushrooms on the Wakarusa River when their canoe hit rough waters near Weaver Bottoms, about one and a half miles from Eudora. The canoe floated into the Kaw, where it capsized. Shaw’s friends made it to shore.

The effort to find Shaw has become a recovery mission. Two boats were involved in Tuesday’s search of the waters. Searchers are using side-scan sonar. The search is expected to continue in the same manner for at least a few more days, said David Ellis, Kansas City district supervisor for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.

¢ Lawrence police arrested a 46-year-old Lawrence man early Tuesday morning after a reported fight in the 1500 block of Harper Street.

The alleged victim, a 44-year-old Lawrence man, told officers he suffered lacerations after an altercation with the suspect. The two know each other, according to police.

Officers interviewed the victim at the scene and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Police did not recover a weapon. Douglas County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday charged Jeffrey A. Bivens with intentional aggravated battery. His bond was set at $3,500 cash or surety, and his next court appearance is May 5. Bivens was released on bond Tuesday afternoon.
