Kay propels Veritas to 64-14 victory

? Veritas Christian picked up its first football victory of the season in emphatic fashion.

Quarterback Michael Kay led the 64-point attack with 249 total yards and four TDs as the Eagles routed Salina St. John’s Military, 64-14, on Friday.

Freshman Ethan Scott had three catches for 52 yards and a score.

Four Veritas defenders – Isaiah Dover, Ethan Kay, Winston Miller and Stephen May – were in on nine tackles apiece.

Dover also had a 35-yard interception return for a TD and reached the end zone on offense as well with a 15-yard run.

Coach Doug Bennett said the team’s first victory was huge.

“It was just what our team needed,” he said. “It was a real encouragement for our guys.”

Bennett said the defense made huge improvements and the offense made significant steps in the right direction Friday.

Veritas (1-4) entertains Springfield Christian a week from today at 3 p.m. for its homecoming game.
