Eudora ? Matthew Abel returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown, and the rout was on.

Abel’s TD was one of seven for Eudora High in a 48-21 football rout Friday of Gardner-Edgerton.

Abel also had eight carries for 147 yards and two more scores.

Travis Clarke carried 22 times for 112 yards and two TDS.

Ryan Fisher and Brynnen Webb also had rushing scores for the Cardinals (5-0).

Louisburg 31, Baldwin 20

Louisburg – Second-half fumbles doomed Baldwin.

The Bulldogs trailed 21-14 at halftime, but fumbled on their first three possessions of the second half. Louisburg scored a touchdown to take 31-14 lead before Baldwin scored late and couldn’t convert an onside kick.

The turnovers resulted in three Louisburg points, but cost the Bulldogs momentum.

Despite facing 21-point deficit, Baldwin (3-2) rallied late in the first half. Drew Berg scored on a quarterback sneak before throwing a touchdown pass to Brandon Tommer.

Bonner Springs 27, Mill Valley 10

Shawnee – Bonner Springs built an 11-point halftime lead, then held Mill Valley scoreless in the second half.

Mill Valley (4-1) struck first on a 22-yard field goal by Zak King in the first quarter. A seven-yard run by King in the second quarter cut Bonner Springs’ lead to 14-10.

Tonganoxie 19, SF Trail 6

Tonganoxie – Kevin Gill rushed for 138 yards off 12 carries and scored two touchdowns.

Gill scored on runs of 70 and 4 yards. Cody Godshall completed six of 13 passes for 124 yards for Santa Fe Trail.

Anderson County 17, Wellsville 14

Wellsville – Anderson County shut out Wellsville in the second half.

Anderson County kicker Chance Lowe nailed a 36-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Wellsville’s Austin Moore carried 29 times for 112 yards and a TD. Quarterback Scott Thompson completed five of his 10 passes – all to Chase McCullough – for 78 yards.

Mitchell Rossi scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter for Wellsville (1-4).

Perry-Lecompton 14, K.C. Ward 3

Kansas City, Kan. – Perry-Lecompton’s two touchdowns were enough for a road victory.

The Kaws’ Mark Higgins scored both TDs for Perry-Lecompton (4-1).

Shane Gimzo hit Higgins for a 57-yard touchdown in the second quarter, and Higgins ran 67 yards for the final score.

Higgins had 10 carries for 92 yards. Gimzo carried 13 times for 62 yards and completed five of his nine passes for 113 yards.

McLouth 21, Jackson Heights 20

McLouth – After getting shut out in the first half at home, McLouth scored three times in the second half to win.

Mark Stewart ran 18 times for 128 yards and all three McLouth scores and recorded an interception on defense.

The Bulldogs’ Ryan Smith carried 20 times for 94 yards.

Troy 47, Oskaloosa 14

Troy – The Bears’ two TDs came on an Adam Bowser pass to Boone Heston in the second quarter and a Brandon Hawks run in the fourth.
