Olathe ? The Free State High volleyball team lost to St. James Academy, 25-17, 25-17, lost to Olathe East, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, and defeated Leavenworth 18-25, 25-16, 25-15 at a surprise quadrangular Thursday.

“We showed up thinking we were going to play a triangular, and we played a quad,” FSHS coach Nancy Hopkins said.

“We struggled the first couple matches,” Hopkins said. “By the third game, it looked like we were getting our legs back. We’ve played like we were really tired the last week.”

The Firebirds (14-8) will play Tuesday at Topeka Hayden.
