Blaze destroys abandoned house
A fire late Monday night destroyed an abandoned, two-story house southeast of Lawrence.
No one was injured in the blaze at 1081 E. 1800 Road, which was reported at 11 p.m., Wakarusa Township Fire Chief Chris Moore said.
“It had been vacant for many, many years,” Moore said of the house. “It was pretty dilapidated.”
More than 40 firefighters from several county fire departments fought the fire and some of them remained on the scene for up to three hours, Moore said.
