N.J. governor undergoes more surgery on leg

? New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine likely will remain hospitalized at least until Wednesday as he recovers from an operation in which five to 10 pounds of bone growth was chiseled from his left leg, his surgeon said.

Robert F. Ostrum, Corzine’s surgeon, said he removed bone from around two breaks in the governor’s femur caused by his near-fatal car crash on the Garden State Parkway on April 12.

The out-of-control bone growth had caused Corzine discomfort and had restricted his movement.

Doctors had inserted a titanium rod into the 60-year-old governor’s leg and operated on it three times before Monday.
