Bulldog volleyball notches 17th win

The Southwest freshman volleyball team upped its win total to 17 on the season with three victories over out-of-town opposition Monday at Southwest Junior High.

The Bulldogs (17-1) opened the home quadrangular with a sweep of Topeka West, 25-8 and 25-18. Southwest took care of Manhattan in its second match with another sweep, 25-12 and 25-17.

In the third match, Seaman wouldn’t go as quietly. After taking game one, 25-16, the Bulldogs lost the second match, 25-23. Southwest then bounced back for a 25-16 game three victory to wrap-up the quad sweep.

Southwest head coach Patty Coffey noted the outstanding hitting of Lillian Schonewise as one of the many keys to the Bulldogs’ success.

Southwest plays intra-city rival West on Thursday at West Junior High.
