Bryant Joins SSG Board: Rick Bryant of Lawrence has been appointed to the board of directors of the Topeka-based Sunflower State Games. Bryant is the communications and marketing officer for the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment.

¢Mavs Volleyball Trials: Lawrence Mavs, a club volleyball team, will conduct tryouts for ages 11-14 on Nov. 4 and age 15 on Nov. 10 at the Robinson Center on the Kansas University campus. ¢Free State Baseball Meeting: An informational meeting for ninth-graders interested in playing baseball at Free State High will be Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s main gym.

¢Marathon Record: Susie Fagan of Lawrence finished 38th in a field of 1,533 women with a personal-best time of 3:26:23 in Sunday’s Columbus, Ohio, Marathon. Fagan was ninth among 252 women in the ages 35-39 division.
