Haskell to inaugurate president

Haskell Indian Nations University will inaugurate Linda Warner as its fifth president this week during homecoming festivities.

Warner, a member of Comanche Nation, began work in April at Haskell after serving as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs at the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Warner’s inauguration ceremony will start at 10 a.m. Friday at Coffin Sports Complex. Kansas University Chancellor Robert Hemenway and U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Kan., will give greetings. The inauguration, along with these activities, are open to the public:

¢ Pre-inauguration banquet, 6:30 p.m. today, Lawrence Holidome, 200 McDonald Drive. Cost $30 at door. Reservations should be made by calling 749-8407.

¢ Haskell homecoming parade, 2 p.m. Friday, South Perimeter Road, Haskell.

¢ Gourd dancing, 4 p.m. Friday, Pow Wow Grounds, Haskell.

¢ Grand entry of dancers, 7 p.m. Friday, Pow Wow Grounds, Haskell.

¢ Healthier Haskell 2.1 run/walk, 9 a.m. Saturday, Haskell Memorial Stadium.

¢ Jim Thorpe Fitness Center’s grand opening, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Haskell.

¢ Haskell homecoming football game, 1 p.m. Saturday, Haskell Memorial Stadium.
