Policy, planning director accepted to institute

Charlotte Marthaler, director of policy and planning for the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, has been accepted as a scholar for this year’s Kansas Public Health Leadership Institute.

The institute, designed to train leaders in the public health and related fields, begins Oct. 24-26 in Wichita and will continue with meetings conducted every three months to discuss leadership strengths and weaknesses, hear national speakers and learn about risk communication. The program ends in September.

Marthaler has worked for the department for nine years, and previously worked in grants and policy administration and as a research analyst at the Nebraska State Department of Health.
