Ahn Trio mixes classical, modern styles

The Ahn Trio, performing works by Paul Chihara, Leonard Bernstein, Astor Piazzolla and Kenji Bunch, will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Lied Center.

Born in Seoul, Korea, and educated at Juilliard, the members of the Ahn Trio – sisters Maria, Lucia and Angella – are redefining the art and architecture of chamber music, breathing new life into the standard piano-trio literature with commissioned works from visionary composers.

The Ahns are attracting both devoted classical music fans and new audiences to their concerts. The trio’s performances frequently feature works composed for them by living composers, including Michael Nyman, Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre, Ronn Yedidia and even Michal Rataj’s adaptation of “Riders on the Storm” by the Doors.

Tickets are $32, with discounts available for students and others. Call 864-2787 for more information.
