Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World of Oct. 12, 1907: “Officials report that Kansas fell short in all the crop fields this year. The corn crop was only about 70 percent of normal and the wheat yields per acre were far below normal. Oats, rye, barley, flax and potatoes were also short of the marks and only hay crops were considered good. : The St. Mary’s football team today fell to our university team 14-2. Coach Bert Kennedy’s team will take a 2-0 record to Oklahoma on Oct. 19.”
