Lawrence police arrested a man early Tuesday on suspicion of kidnapping, rape and other charges.

Officers responded to a disturbance call at 1:26 a.m. in the area of North Sixth Street after witnesses called police, a police statement said.

A 22-year-old woman was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. The suspect, also 22, of Lawrence, and the victim are acquaintances, police said.

Other possible charges against the suspect include aggravated burglary, criminal damage and two counts of assault. An investigation is continuing and no other information was released.
