Sophia Spencer has joined KTKA 49 ABC News in Topeka as an anchor, having worked previously as morning reporter and anchor in the Kansas City market for KCTV 5.

Spencer is co-anchor with Ben Bauman on KTKA’s 10 p.m. news. She takes over for Jana Corrie, who left KTKA after two years for a reporting job at KMBC, which is channel 9 in Kansas City, Mo.

KTKA – channel 12 on Sunflower Broadband – is winner of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters’ 2007 Station of the Year award in the medium market television station category.

The station is a division of Free State Communications LLC, which is owned by The World Company, the Lawrence-based media company that also owns the Journal-World.
