Santa Claus coming to downtown Friday
The annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony and Visit with Santa Claus is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday on the US Bank Tower Plaza, Ninth and Massachusetts streets.
Holiday entertainment along Massachusetts Street will begin at 5 p.m.
The festivities will feature the caroling as well as the Kaw Valley Fife and Drum Corps and the 4-H band.
The evening will be capped off with Santa Claus landing his sleigh on Weaver’s Department Store rooftop, where the Lawrence Fire & Medical Department will help him descend from the roof to visit with children.
The festivities are organized by Downtown Lawrence Inc., Lawrence Fire & Medical and other downtown businesses.
