LMH hosting diabetes, baby events for public

Lawrence Memorial Hospital, 325 Maine, has announced several public events this month.

Prospective brothers and sisters ages 3 to 6 are invited to the Tyke Hyke to help them prepare for a new baby in the family.

The class includes a tour of the LMH Mother/Baby Unit and a discussion and video about new babies.

The program is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. today. All children will need to be accompanied by a parent.

On Friday, the hospital will host a free presentation on diabetes by Nancy Donahey and Pat Hohman of the LMH Diabetes Education Center.

There will be exhibits from several companies that provide diabetic medicines and testing supplies.

The presentation is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A boxed lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

SAFE KIDS Douglas County, a coalition of community organizations, will host a free Community Check Lane event to inspect car safety seats. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at Dale Willey Automotive, 2840 Iowa.
