Two-run fifth gives Panthers win over Colts

Strong winds made the outfielders play at the cut of the grass Tuesday night at Youth Sports Inc. But few balls traveled that distance. The Colts and Panthers battled in a close game before the Panthers won, 6-4.

After taking a two-run lead in the bottom of the first inning, the Panthers seemed to be in control of the game. But the Colts battled back to score four runs to retake the lead. The Panthers weren’t about to give in and countered with a run of their own.

In the deciding inning, Jake Rogers led off with a walk for the Panthers and later advanced to third. With the bases loaded Narito Mendez drew a walk and Rogers scored to tie the game at four. After walking home another run, Mendez eventually made his way to third and scored on a wild pitch, giving the Panthers the margin for victory.
