Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for May 30, 1907: “The Commercial Club of Lawrence is urging citizens of Lawrence to decorate their homes and places of business with flags, bunting and university colors on June 3, 4 and 5 in honor of the commencement exercises at the University of Kansas. The university is making greater efforts than ever before to induce more people to visit our beautiful city for commencement and to learn of our advantages and offerings. : A local woman has been arrested in Ottawa for perjury after her false testimony against a local family on the subject of hog-stealing. There is no evidence of any guilt and the perjury penalty could be severe. : Students at the university have killed the proposal to hold chapel services only twice a week next year. The chancellor has announced that the past policy of chapel every school day will be reinstated.”
