A day at Health Care Access
This 12 hour window into the life of our Clinic is representative of every day here
Our mission: To help facilitate access to health services for Douglas County residents with limited financial means who are not covered by private or governmental insurance programs.
Thursday, May 10th was another busy day in the life of Health Care Access Clinic. We saw 27 patients for appointments in the clinic, dispensed prescriptions to many others through our medication program, and referred patients needing specialized treatment to our extensive network of volunteer providers here in Lawrence.
We welcomed Susan Andersen, ARNP, a new half-time provider who will help us expand our Women’s Health Program, as well as Dr. Peter Bock, a new volunteer provider who will make monthly onsite clinic visits. In addition, we received help from volunteers with ongoing data entry and record-keeping projects and hosted a wrap-up volunteer meeting for our biggest fundraiser to date, the Lawrence Half Marathon & 5k, which raised $42,000 for the clinic.
This 12-hour window into the life of our clinic is representative of every day here – we collaborate with other members of the community to help provide quality, comprehensive health care services to those who are most in need, whether that is through patient contact, volunteer services or public and private donations. Health Care Access Clinic is very fortunate to have the support of the Lawrence and Douglas County communities to assist us in our mission.
