The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office identified 47-year-old Darren Piecukonis, of Topeka, as the man who was seriously injured in a Saturday night motorcycle accident near Midland Junction.

A nursing supervisor at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., could not confirm or deny that Piecukonis was still at the hospital, but she did say that this is often the case with survivors of serious accidents.

No additional information on the crash was available Sunday.
