Senator: GOP will pick ‘pro-life’ candidate

? An abortion rights candidate will have trouble winning the Republican presidential nomination, Sen. Sam Brownback said Friday.

“This party has had a pro-life plank in its platform since 1980,” said Brownback, who is seeking the GOP nomination. “It has had a dispute within itself over where the party stands on life, but that has been resolved.”

While most national polls show Rudy Giuliani, who supports abortion rights, atop the field of Republican candidates, Brownback said that will change as hard-core party activists begin to focus on the race.
