Convenience store clerk reports robbery

Two men wearing hoods low over their faces robbed an eastern Lawrence convenience store early Sunday, police said Tuesday.

One of the men jumped over the counter and the other walked around the counter after they entered Kwik Shop, 1611 E. 23rd St., about 1:30 a.m. The clerk, a 21-year-old man, was ordered to open the cash registers, according to police. The suspects then told the clerk to get on the floor.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The clerk stood up and watched as the two men fled east in the parking lot. A vehicle was then seen driving away. No weapons were seen. Officers later found a vehicle matching the description and questioned the driver, but no arrests were made.
