Lawrence baseball tumbles

? After three scoreless innings, the Lawrence High baseball team finally found some offense. Unfortunately for the Lions, Olathe Northwest found more.

Northwest won, 7-3, on Friday at Olathe District Activities Center in a continuation of a rain-delayed game that began Thursday evening.

When play resumed Friday, the score was tied at 0 in the bottom of the second inning. The Lions managed a run apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but the Ravens answered with two, three and two runs in those innings.

“We got outexecuted and outcoached,” LHS coach Brad Stoll said. “We just got beat.”

Still, the Lions made some impressive defensive plays, Stoll said.

Joe Kornbrust took the loss for the Lions, who fell to 8-6. They will play host to Blue Valley North at 11 a.m. today at Ice Field before finishing a rain-delayed game against Shawnee Mission North. That contest was tied 4-4 in the seventh inning when it was suspended Tuesday.
