Area children soon will have an opportunity to get an up-close look at big trucks of all types.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the Big Rigs for Lil’ Kids event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Holcom Sports Complex parking lot, 2601 W. 25th St. The event will feature a variety of automobiles, fire trucks and tractors. Youths will learn how the trucks are used and operated. A fire truck demonstration will begin at 10 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public.
