Will ‘Lost’ secrets be un-Locked?

Last week’s “Lost” (9 p.m., ABC) wrapped up just as we saw captive Jack playing a friendly game of touch football with his former tormentors. And we received a hint that Ben knew a lot more about Locke’s past and motivations than suspected.

My head does a full Linda Blair whenever I ponder this series’ unanswered mysteries. OK, last week we learned that Jack’s creepy doctor dad was indeed Claire’s father. But just how much does that explain in the overall scheme of things?

Locke’s story seems more central to the show’s core conundrums. Why did he throw away his wheelchair once stranded? What the heck was his “Shining”-like relationship with young Walt? What did he see in those blue hieroglyphs? Just why does Locke, more than anyone, seem drawn to the island’s Kaypro-era computer technology? Why did he lie about those plastic explosives last week, and why did he shove evil Eye-Patch guy through the electric force field?

On a side note, don’t you wish Eye-Patch guy had stuck around just to hear what kind of nicknames Sawyer would create for him?

Maybe I’ve been on the island too long, but I think some of the secrets are revealed tonight. If only we can open the Locke.

¢ Since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, correspondent Richard Engel has been using his video camera to compile a “War Zone Diary” (9 p.m., MSNBC). Fluent in Arabic, Engel has interviewed Iraqis as well as American soldiers and his fellow correspondents. He confides that he may be creating his own video obituary.

¢ On tonight’s “Bones” (7 p.m., Fox), Brennan and her team take on a case that might be too gross even for them. Will it take a boneless and boiled cadaver to drive Brennan into Sully’s arms and accept his offer to take her away from all this formaldehyde?

¢ They’re back! Last week marked the first cheesy Ford commercial/ music video on this year’s “American Idol” (8 p.m., Fox). I’m no expert on advertising, but Ford has been an exclusive sponsor of “Idol” for years now. And during that time, the company’s fortunes have not exactly soared.

Tonight’s other highlights

¢ Julie makes her intentions known on “Friday Night Lights” (7 p.m., NBC).

¢ A serial arsonist targets the well off on “Criminal Minds” (8 p.m., CBS).

¢ A murdered teen’s secret comes to light on “Crossing Jordan” (8 p.m., NBC).

¢ An investigation hinges on an exotic bug on “CSI: NY” (9 p.m., CBS).
