Resident appointed to state commission

Lawrence resident John Selk has been appointed to the Electronic Recording Commission in Kansas.

The commission is developing standards that comply with state and federal laws regarding the enforceability of electronic real estate documents. The appointment was made by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Selk manages survey crews at Landplan Engineering, and is a member of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, American Society of Civil Engineers, Kansas Association of Mappers and Kansas Society of Land Surveyors.

Selk is expected to serve until the standards are finalized in July.
