Projects lining up for Day of Caring

The Roger Hill Volunteer Center announces the 2007 Day of Caring from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21. Individuals and groups interested in volunteering for this annual event should register now.

Projects may include painting, cleaning, archiving and yard care for local nonprofit organizations and community members in need.

Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Bert Nash seeks a volunteer to help the current administrative assistant on the Medical Services Team one day a week, preferably on Thursdays. The volunteer will contact clients to obtain information for forms as well as process donated medications for use in the medication services program.

¢ The Spencer Museum of Art at Kansas University is looking for energetic, enthusiastic volunteers to assist with special events to help with various stages of exhibition openings and museum functions, answer visitor questions, and give tours to children, adults and school groups.

¢ Lawrence After School Programs are seeking volunteers for several elementary school sites to tutor students or assist them with homework.

Volunteers are needed from now until the end of the school year in May. Hours for the after-school programs are from 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on all days of the week.

¢ Special Olympic Kansas seeks volunteers to help with the Powerlifting and Cycling Competition from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Volunteers are needed to help as timers and scorekeepers, and to serve lunches, judge, present awards and escort the athletes.

¢ Lawrence Waste Reduction and Recycling Center needs 20 volunteers to help with Lawrence’s seventh annual Earth Day celebration. The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21, in South Park.

Volunteers are needed for setup at 8 a.m., the Water Festival activity and other Earth Day activities, and/or cleanup duties.
