Boy Scouts prepare for annual food drive

The 20th annual “Scouting for Food” drive will be March 31.

Lawrence Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will begin delivering fliers March 19, asking people to donate canned and packaged nonperishable food items to help supply Lawrence food pantries.

Last year, the food drive collected more than 4,400 pounds of food for eight food pantries.

To participate, put your donated food items in a plastic or paper bag or box and place it on your front porch by 9 a.m. March 31. The bag or box should be marked “Scouting for Food.” If your donation isn’t picked up by 2 p.m., it can be taken to the Salvation Army Food Pantry, 946 N.H.

Any questions can be directed to Salvation Army’s Food Drive Coordinator Mary Shipley at 843-4188 or by calling Boy Scout communications spokesman David Berkowitz at 843-8147.
