From the Lawrence Daily World for March 5, 1907: “Last night one of the boldest burglaries in our history occurred when thieves entered the room of May Morse at 845 R.I. and took everything they could find. The robbery took place between 7 and 8 p.m. and even the sheets and bedding were taken. Miss Morse is employed at the post office and when she returned from work she saw and open window to her room and suspected the worst, which was the case. Tracks indicated two or more men were involved. : The past year has seen the subscriber list of the Daily World increase by more than 450.”
