Kindergarten roundups begin around city

Calling all kindergartners: Lawrence public schools are looking for you.

Kindergarten roundups are now under way for the city’s 15 public elementary schools.

Families with a kindergarten-aged child are asked to notify their neighborhood school.

“We anticipate approximately 800 kindergarten students to enroll, so this is pretty big news to those Lawrence families getting ready to send their little ones off to school for the first time,” said Julie Boyle, communications director for Lawrence’s public schools.

Each school does its program a little bit differently, Boyle said.

“So we ask families to contact their neighborhood school for Roundup times and more information,” she said.

The following are the Roundup dates by school: Broken Arrow, April 19; Cordley, May 4; Deerfield, April 12 and 13; Hillcrest, April 27; Kennedy, April 17 and 18; Langston Hughes, April 26 and 27; New York, April 10; Pinckney, April 18; Prairie Park, April 17 and 18; Quail Run, April 20; Schwegler, April 6; Sunflower, April 12 and 13; Sunset Hill, April 6; Wakarusa Valley, April 19, and Woodlawn, April 23.
