Derby ? A car crashed through the wall of an elementary school gymnasium, but only its driver sustained minor injuries.

School had already let out Tuesday and students had left the building when the car hit the brick wall, lodging itself into Tanglewood Elementary School.

The driver felt ill and pulled off the road into the parking lot, said Tom Snodgrass, the district’s director of operations.

“He got sick and passed out and ran into the building,” he said.

While the accident left a gaping hole in the wall, there did not appear to be any significant structural damage. Snodgrass said it looked like the damage would not be too hard to fix.
