Van Go fundraiser slated for June 16

There will be dancing, barbecue, music and prizes at the third annual “What Floats Your Boat?” fundraiser for Van Go Mobile Arts Inc.

The fundraiser will benefit Van Go’s Jobs in the Arts Makes Sense program, which provides those ages 14 to 21 with jobs to make public works of art.

The event will be from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. June 16 at the Clinton Lake Marina. A dinner catered by McGonigle’s Barbecue will take place at 6:30 p.m., followed by an auction at 7 p.m. and a dance with the cover band $ellOut! at 8 p.m.

Sarah Smarsh, development director for Van Go, said it’s the biggest fundraiser for the Lawrence nonprofit organization, which provides after-school job training and support services to about 100 at-risk teens a year.

Van Go still has a limited number of tickets available for $45 apiece, Smarsh said. People interested in purchasing tickets can call 842-3797 or visit the Van Go office at 715 N.J.
