Fewer graduate student teaching jobs resulting from recent budget reductions at Kansas University might deal a telling blow to graduate admissions the coming year, KU leaders warned. They feared that overall enrollment on the Lawrence campus might drop for the second consecutive fall semester. The state had called for 4 percent spending cutbacks to prevent deficit financing after a study had indicated a $37 million shortfall in state funding was developing for the current fiscal year.
